Our Mission
The Wilderness Lodge is a resource, retreat and education center for children in foster care and those working to support them through the love of Jesus Christ.
Our overall mission is to show the love of Jesus and do what He has commanded us which is to Love Him and Love People.
Upcoming Events
Kids Night Out
Our very first Kids Night Out will be held this Spring. We will host foster children as well as their biological children ages birth to 12 years old. We will begin the evening with pizza and then rotate from station to station providing bible stories, activities, crafts, music, bible games and snacks.
This event gives our foster parents a break from parenting and allows them to focus a little on their marriage relationship.
Foster Parent Appreciation Banquet
Due to Covid, the Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner in Cullman County has not been held in a couple of years. By reimplementing this event, foster parents will be able to sit down to a nice dinner, listen to an inspirational speaker and the child care would be covered by The Wilderness Lodge. We want them to know that they are loved and appreciated.
Summer Camp
Our goal is to sponsor a two-day camp for foster children and the biological children of their foster parents. This is still in the planning stages. We have approached a group that is experienced in this type of camp and have asked them to consider providing leadership for a camp for Cullman County children in foster care. We would be recruiting volunteers and raising support for both days. More information to come.
Where We’re Located
While there is no permanent event space for The Wilderness Lodge at this time, we are grateful for local churches allowing us to use their facilities to create an event space for kids that evokes the adventure, fun and relaxation of a wilderness reprieve.
Beginning in May 2025, an administrative office will open on Highway 31 in Cullman to provide support services including new-to-care bags, school supplies, and other necessities to support foster families. Stay tuned for more details to come!
